Poetry Night: Richard Garcia and Leona Sevick

Richard Garcia won the 2016 Press 53 Award for Poetry for the collection Porridge. He is the author of six books of poetry, recently The Other Odyssey from Dream Horse Press and The Chair from BOA Editions, both published in 2014. His poetry has been published widely, including in The Georgia Review, Ploughshares, Colorado Review, Spillway, and the Best American Poetry 2005 anthology. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife, poet Katherine Williams, and is on the faculty of the Antioch University MFA in Creative Writing program.(www.richardgarcia.info)
Leona Sevick won the 2017 Press 53 Award for Poetry for her book Lion Brothers. Her chapbook Damaged Little Creatures was published in 2015 by FutureCycle Press. Sevick's poems appear in the journals Barrow Street, Potomac Review, North American Review and The Florida Review among many others, as well as in several anthologies, including All We Can Hold: Poems of Motherhood (Sage Hill Press, 2016) and Circe’s Lament: Anthology of Wild Women Poetry (Accents Publishing, 2016).
